About the Project
This project addresses a critical gap for the community and local schools, where students currently lack safe water for drinking, contributing to missing school and waterborne illness. The solar-powered pumping system ensures reliable, uninterrupted water access, even during drought.
The primary objective is to provide reliable access to clean drinking water to the Laikipia Women’s Group in Kenya through a community-led water borehole micro-enterprise. This project includes a deep-drilled borehole with a solar-powered pumping kiosk and a kiosk to sell excess water. The revenue is controlled an retained by the community.
