Bharat Pandya, a member of the Rotary Club of Borivli in Mumbai, has been selected by Rotary's nominating committee to serve as Rotary International president for 2028-29. He becomes president-nominee on September 15 if no one challenges the nomination.
Pandya spent 38 years as a general and laparoscopic surgeon before turning his full attention to Rotary leadership. He served on the India PolioPlus Committee from 2011 to 2015, the years India was certified polio-free, and has since held roles as an RI director, treasurer, and chair of the RI Programs Committee.
A surgeon who spent decades treating patients one at a time is about to lead an organization built on the same idea at a larger scale, one person and one project at a time.
