Hundreds of Swallows Day Parade participants, volunteers and spectators were supplied a hearty breakfast by members of SJC Rotary and Interact club members. The breakfast, prepared at the SJC Rotary Scout Hut, is one of many projects to help the San Juan Capistrano community.
Preparation started Friday afternoon with tables and chairs being set up. Food prep began with eggs being cracked and supplies being unpacked.
Saturday began before dawn as SJC Rotary President-Elect Carlos Aguilar started the coffee brewing and griddles heating. The buffet line started around 6:30 with the parade volunteers and went into full swing once the Marines arrived. Volunteers started making more pancake batter while Interact volunteers cracked more eggs and portioned butter to meet the demand.
The Pancake Breakfast has been a welcome feature of the the Swallows Day Parade and raises some funds for SJC Rotary projects in the community.
