SJC Rotarians Make Holiday Magic

Each year, SJC Rotary members and Interactors provide a magical holiday for children in San Juan Capistrano and Tijuana.

Shoes for Souls

Working with the Rotary Club of Tijuana Noreste, SJC Rotarians fund new shoes for students from poorer areas of Tijuana. Most of the kids are from families that have migrated from Southern Mexico or Central America to the Tijuana area looking for better jobs. For many, this is the first new pair of shoes they've received. SJC Rotarians drove to Mexico to help distribute the new shoes.

Breakfast with Santa

Collecting age-appropriate toys and gifts throughout the year, SJC Rotarians stage a Breakfast with Santa event at San Juan Capistrano Rotary's Scout Hut.

Around 120 families showed up and more than 225 presents were handed out by "Santa", played this year by Mayor Howard Hart who was appropriately attired in Santa's traditional red suit.

Mike Darnold's Interact volunteer team were treated to breakfast overseen by Club President Nominee Robert Bruch. His crew cooked breakfast & lunch for the volunteers.

Face painting and games kept the kids active and involved until it was their turn to visit with Santa.

The Interact "Elves" worked behind the scenes to choose the most appropriate gift for each child.

SJC Rotary wishes you and your family warm tidings and great fellowship this holiday season.
