In a powerful display of community service, members of San Juan Capistrano Rotary came together on Saturday, September 7th, to tackle a growing environmental concern. Led by long-time Rotarian Tom Hribar, about a dozen dedicated volunteers gathered early in the morning before it got too hot to work, armed with gloves, trash bags, and a commitment to make a difference.
Their mission? To clean up the creek beds that wind through San Juan Capistrano, restoring the waterways' beauty and health.
As the morning sun climbed higher, Rotarians spread out along the creeks, carefully picking up litter and debris that had accumulated over time. The task was not for the faint of heart, but every piece of trash collected represented a small victory in a neverending battle against pollution.
What they accomplished in just one hour was nothing short of remarkable. By the end of their efforts, the volunteer crew had amassed enough litter to fill the entire bed of a pickup truck. This staggering amount serves as a sobering reminder of the impact our everyday habits can have on the environment.
Tom Hribar, the driving force behind this initiative, expressed his gratitude to the volunteers. "It's heartening to see so many of our members give up their Saturday morning to help preserve the natural beauty of San Juan Capistrano," he said. "This is what Rotary is all about – coming together to make our community a better place."
The creek cleanup project is just one of many ways the San Juan Capistrano Rotary Club serves the local community. However, it holds a special place in the hearts of many members, as it directly impacts the city's ecological health and aesthetic appeal.
