San Juan Capistrano Rotary's $5,000 Sponsorship Powers Marco Forster Marathon Dreams
Marco Forster Middle School's marathon team is celebrating its eleventh year in the Students Run Los Angeles (SRLA) program! As the first middle school in the district to join this life-changing program, Marco Forster has built something special with the crucial support of the San Juan Capistrano Rotary's generous $5,000 sponsorship.
The team was the brainchild of SJC Rotarian Ray Perez to introduce dedicated 8th graders and to running during their middle school years. The runners train alongside passionate coaches - teachers, administrators, and community running enthusiasts who believe in these young athletes.
The heart of SRLA is simple but powerful: helping students set big goals, build strong character, and develop rock-solid discipline. For over six months, the young runners train together, pushing through ever harder challenges and growing stronger - both physically and mentally. The program teaches them that with teamwork, determination and hard work, they can accomplish amazing things - like completing a full marathon!
The results speak for themselves. Every single Marco Forster student who trained properly crossed the LA Marathon finish line with heads held high and hearts full of pride. No wonder the school mascot is the Roadrunner!
